Favorite Things Friday

My favorite thing this week is sheets that have been dried on a clothesline (check out FTF and join in the fun).  I love the smell of the sheets; the crispness.

I haven't had a clothesline since I lived at my parents' house but I love the smell and feel.  On occasion, I have let the sheets dry in the sun on a makeshift line, but normally they just get tossed in the dryer; but it's not the same thing.  Not only do the sheets smell great, but you also save energy and money (check out Project Laundry List).  It's also healthier because you spend time outside.

As a side note, my husband and his sister wrote a song when they were kids, "on the clothesline" -- a real catchy tune.

I agree with you, I much prefer hanging my washing on the line than putting it through the dryer, except for towels, I can't stand the feel of line dried towels they are soooo scratchy and stiff. Everything always smells much nicer when it's been on the line. This summer I've had to resort to the dryer a lot as it's been so wet and humid nothing would dry, even under cover.

I use my Hills Hoist all the time and have never had a house without a washing line.

I completely agree with you about the smell and feel of sun dried sheets- there is nothing like slipping into a bed that has fresh linen on it!

What a fabulous FTF Thea. One of the simple pleasures of life.

I love the smell of wash that's been line dried too. Fortunately, I still have a clothesline and love to use it. When the mosquitoes have hatched in the early summer and are swarming at certain times of the day, not so much, but it just makes me get it hung that much faster!

I like certain things on the line other things not as much like jeans - they do not go up there. Of course I don't have a clothes line, but my yard is mini so that's my excuse.

My sweetie asked me early on in our relationship, how come my sheets smelled so fabulous....yes, it won his heart that I hung out my bedding, still put the pillowcases out after they are dried in the winter, just to get the fresh smell.

I'm with you. I love drying most of my laundry on the line. I can't do jeans, towels, or socks, but as for the rest of it, I love my line!

And the sun kills germs and dare I say it bugs - not that we have any!

I'll never understand why neighborhoods have policies against clotheslines! Well, I kind of understand, but it's a bummer!

I love the smell of clean sheets, period - clothesline dried, even better!

great FTF!

I´m with you on that one...and I cannot wait for spring to come to be able to hang up my clothes outside again

With the rising cost of electricity drying your clothes in the fresh air is a very sensible proposition as well as the side issue of their fresh smell.
I try not to hang too many clothes in the sun because it fades them too much but I rarely use the dryer though of late it has been getting a workout!!
Cheers

Oh, I love outdoor dried sheets and clothes, too but the hubs has allergies and I can't hang things out. It's such a bummer.

There is only one thing that beats the smell of freshly laundered sheets and thats the way your house smells after you have baked cookies. Oh and a freshly bathed baby.....mmmmm well dont get mixed up and bake the baby but you know what I mean

If there is any days without rain in London, I do like getting my clothes out, but towels have to be in the dryer so they are nice and soft and fluffy.

I use my line nearly all year round....except now as it is the 'wet season'. I can still manage to get most stuff dry if I keep an eye on the clouds....sometimes I win, sometimes the rain does :-)
