Another finish

Ifinished another quilt this week.  It's really a cheater quilt  First off, it's just like the one I made for Katie's baby, but easier.  I didn't put a small border around it before putting the main border and I didn't add any batting.  Second, you will notice that it's a panel with some pieces around the edges.  Even so, I'm happy with it.  This one  was for Cooper for his second birthday.  I love the flannel on the back.  The binding looks great with it.  I also machine sewed the binding down.  Only the second time I've done that.
Here are some more pics -- which you probably already saw because I accidentally posted this before I was able to type. My computer is acting up and typing on it is really difficult. Might be time for a new one...

Wings of Freedom

This past Saturday, we took the boys to Moffett Airfield where they had a couple (or three) WWII aircraft (it's called the Wings of Freedom Tour).  For a fee, you can ride in the planes; for an even bigger fee, you can get a flying lesson.  We opted for the smallest fee -- just seeing the planes and getting to crawl through them.  We got there early so that we could see the planes fly.

Turned out there was a whole lot more waiting than I had planned for.  Instead of a one-hour wait to get on the planes, it was three hours.  Not the best thing for three small boys.  But they survived (and so did we) and finally got to crawl through the plane.

Definitely worth the wait, but having done it once, I'll plan better next time.

My Space

I actually have a MySpace account.  I have a total of two pictures on it and a link to my DIL's MySpace account.  That's it.  Anyway, here's the picture from MySpace.

Quite flattering, don't you think?!

New beginnings .. May

One of my goals this year is to start a new project each month.  (This is a real challenge for me -- to start a new project whether or not I'm finished with the last one.)  If you have started a new project or if you are thinking about starting one, link up and share what you're up to ...

This month I am actually starting two quilts -- two improv quilts.  My niece, Katie sent me a package last month (see my post here).  In the package were two zip lock bags with fabric; one labeled with her name, the other with mine.  Here are the pictures of the blocks I made this past weekend.

Zoom Zoom - finished!

Here is my third finish for the year!! Yay!

The fabric is Zip Zoom so I decided to name the quilt Zoom Zoom.  I saw the kit on the Fat Quarter Shop and thought it would be a great boy quilt.  I didn't actually buy the kit.  I bought the fabric and made my own.  I bought enough fabric to make three of these ... I may make one for Cooper's 2nd birthday which is May 25 ...

This is the one I gave to Katie for her baby (due June 16 (or 15 or 14), I don't quite remember).  The baby's room was going to be black and white so I thought the bright colors would be perfect.  They changed the color scheme of the room so the colorfulness is not quite so necessary -- but it's a fun quilt anyway.

You can't tell but I quilted around the roads.  I'm not sure if I'll do that on the other quilts, but it turned out okay on this one.

I finished the quilting and sewed the binding on before we went to Florida and then spent Monday night sewing the binding down and tucking in all the stray threads.  Unfortunately, the red on the back bled a little so the white is kind of pink ...
