Here's the quilt top that was supposed to be the hexagon quilt ... :D

It's about half done.  I need to finish it by next weekend because we're having a shower on the 3rd of September.

I tried to do something different with a quilt today and it really is not working .. I need help fixing it.  I'll have to call on my quilting buddies ..

The other pinwheel sampler

Just a short blog to say that I did finish sewing all the strips together for the "other" pinwheel sampler quilt.  I have to finish the narrow border (just two more strips of the dark blue) and the wide border, then I need to pick out the backing, put it together, quilt it, and bind it.

This is how it's coming along.  Once I have all the borders in place, I'll post another picture.

Oh, I shouldn't admit it but I love that I can blog from here. Day started out with Mark taking my transportation so I didn't have any way to get to work and no cash for a cab. I guess I need to have an emergency stash on hand ... can't wait to get home to work on the other pinwheel sampler. I am getting anxious to finish so I can start on my next project.

Today's $1 Find

I was shopping for some fabric for a baby quilt I'm going to start this week and I just couldn't pass these up.

I should put something next to them so you could see how cute and small they are...

Road Trip (to Michigan)

After the Mall of America, we went to FedEx to drop off Katie's suitcase which gave us a little more room in the back seat.

The next pics are of the road trip from Minnesota to Michigan, by way of Wisconsin.  We don't get to see the bridge (the Straits of Mackinac) but it's much faster, and therefore the way to go.

There was a really neat bridge in Duluth, but I didn't get a picture of it.  I kept missing the good pictures and we didn't stop when I missed them.  The drive would have taken for ever if we'd done that.

The Mall of America

So, we met up with Jones & Co. outside of Minneapolis .. at Burger King .. and drove from there to the Mall of America where we were going to meet more of Jones & Co., but their plane was delayed. 

So we hung out with SpongeBob.

We rode the ferris wheel (according to Katie, not one of the better ones), had some lunch, and started our road trip to Michigan.

So, from NY we went to Minnesota to see our dear friend Sandy. We hung out with Sandy in Still Water, went to Lumberjack Days, ate the biggest $3 ice cream cone, and just had a great time.

So, the first part of our vacation was actually work related. The firm had an end of summer dinner that I was able to attend. I'm attaching pictures.. I spent most of the day in the office and then changed and went to dinner. The highlight of the evening was the Statue of Liberty at sunset.

Quick update

Knocked off some items from my list: 20 (see both of my sisters), 25 (road trip), 26 (one-week TV break), 42 (see the sunrise), and 45 (have a picnic).  I'll have to blog more about these later, which I will, but it's great to be able to check some things off.

My #50 - putting together a 2000 piece puzzle may be tougher than I thought -- finding a 2000 piece puzzle may prove to be the main problem.

I need to upload pictures and whatnot which I'll work on either later today, or this coming weekend...
