Favorite Things Friday

I have two favorites this week .. soup .. and special surprises.  I came home from work only to find out that I was going to have the house to myself tonight.  I should be sewing but instead I'm cooking (and blogging).

After my last post where I said I made butternut squash soup, I got a comment about pumpkin soup -- apparently butternut squash goes by the name of pumpkin in Australia .. so I decided to make pumpkin soup tonight from a little orange pumpkin.  I've never made pumpkin soup before but I imagine it will be very much like the butternut squash soup.  I'm also roasting the seeds for another tasty treat.  I want to make apple crisp too .. we'll see.  Maybe I'll sew instead.

Having the night to myself is a real treat ..

Check out others' favorites at Quilting in My Pyjamas, here.  Or better yet, join in and share your favorite.

To be fair, we call them butternut pumpkins. They're the tall ones... We have shorter, fatter pumpkins too.

Love pumpkins Thea any way you want to cook them. Especially love soup, pumpkin sconesd and pumpkin fruit cake. Enjoy your 'alone' time. That's always a great favourite!

Thanks for the correction Sara .. the person who commented on the squash being pumpkin called it butternut pumpkin too. I just didn't read carefully enough.

Apple crisp, yum!
Love pumpkin soup as you know, also love pumpkin scones and I found a recipe using a chocolate cake packet mix and adding pureed pumpkin, very very nice and very low fat.

How'd the soup turn out? Pumpkin soup sounds really good.

Isn't it great when you have time to yourself to do whatever you want? Hope it was everything you wanted it to be!
