Life
.. I just learned of the death of a high school friend (it happened
five years ago but I just read about it today). Interestingly, he lived
in Mountain View, California (10 minutes from where I live) for some of his adult life .. we might have even seen
each other at some time and not realized it. I would have like to have
re-connected with him.
I posted that on facebook earlier and then realized that this might be the better forum to post about this, that those of you who follow me here probably know me better than all my "friends" on facebook. I think I'll delete it -- DONE.
Anyway, I took a very different path after high school and haven't stayed in touch with anyone. They all went off to college and I got married and had kids. I'm just a little sad that I really haven't stayed in touch with anyone. Seems like when I take a turn in my life, I leave the past behind instead of keeping some of it with me.

Some serious thinking here, Thea. I think that a lot of us can say the same, and it is not all bad changes, just life changes. I'm sorry for your loss of a friend....
hugs, pokey
Sorry about the loss of your friend. It's really hard to stay in touch. You got married had kids and that takes a lot of energy. Your college friends would have been at least 4 years behind you in that stage of life, so they probably weren't any better about keeping up connections.
It's hard to stay in touch with everyone.
Even as someone who only left school 5 years ago, I can really relate. So many of my friends are off married or have kids: completely different from my life. And apart from facebook, I don't really have any contact with any of them. Leaving me torn between being sad, missing what I had, and then remembering how much I love my friends that I have now. And as much as it would be wonderful to take it along with me, I'm not sure I am that kind of person, I think I live a little too in the now to keep in touch with my past. But I think of them fondly, and sometimes I'll run into one of them, and they're usually pretty happy in their lives, so that's all you can hope for.
