I saw the design here (from a blog I found on the Blogger's Quilt Festival).
I think I want to make this but with three colors. I'll see if I can find a pattern with three interlocking links (?). I don't know if I could actually design my own if I can't find one ..
So this week, I sewed 4 out of 7 nights -- well worked on quilty-type stuff anyway. Hopefully next week will be even better. To see what other people have worked on this week, check out the 15 Minute Challenge at Life in Pieces.
Blogger’s Quilt Festival :: Fall 2012
It's time once again for the fall Blogger's Quilt Festival hosted by Amy of Amy's Creative Side.
I am entering my blue jeans quilt (note the super creative name). I made it using the tutorial for a ragtime quilt from Amanda Jean of Crazy Mom Quilts. This is the first rag quilt I've made.
I used old jeans, some white denim, and some fabric from a friend's stash.
The backing was made from flannel scraps from other quilts I made, mostly baby quilts.
Quilt Measurements: 115 in x 60 in
Special Techniques used, if any: quilt as you go, rag quilt
Quilted by… me
Best category: Throw Quilt, Two Color Quilt

I love the way the backing peeks through on the front and gives it just a little color.

forgotten project
so, when I was posting about what I did last week, I had forgotten that my YD and I had made a diaper motorcycle (following the DIY tutorial here). not sewing, but at least something crafty, oh and the ribbon was purple, not blue like it looks in the picture. Next time, I have to remember to go with one color -- either pink or purple but not both.
Here's a link to the other diaper motorcycle that I made. I feel like I have made three but I can't find pictures of the other one.
15 Minute Challenge
Tuesday-Friday - lots of nothing
Saturday - picked up a quilting book at the library
Sunday - sorted scraps
Monday - worked too late to do anything
I'm trying to get back into it .. we'll see how it goes next week.
I'm stretching it to call it two days this week, but maybe if I put myself out there, I'll actually get started on something.
Anyway, to see what everyone else accomplished this week, click here to head over to Life In Pieces .. you can always link up yourself too!

Help, please ..
I need some dinner ideas .. slow cooker or casserole.
We have a schedule at our house for cooking (started about two months ago). I cook dinner every Friday night and since I don't get home from work until 6 p.m. on Fridays, I like to have dinner made on Thursday. I don't have many good ideas for slow cooker or casserole recipes. I'm sure y'all must have some you can share with me.
so, that's it. a plea for help.

Another week gone by
sooo, I haven't been blogging lately.
It's not that I don't want to or that I don't have time, it's more because I haven't been doing anything blog worthy. That's not really fair though. I was in Disneyland last weekend, at a conference. Didn't actually make it to the park.
What I liked about Disneyland: it felt safe; it was definitely kid friendly; good people watching; the people who worked there were friendly and helpful.
What I didn't like: it felt a little old (like it could use a face lift or remodel) -- the rooms were nice enough, just something about it felt, I don't know, almost shabby. and then there was the music .. there was music everywhere .. that may have even added to the "old" feel.
I didn't take nearly enough pictures. I apologize for that. There really was a lot to see but I was in meetings for the most part.
My wordless picture this week was of the hand holding the lamp. If it weren't Disneyland, it would have been kind of creepy.
I just love Sleepy as the "do not disturb" sign.
Here are Woody and Buzz, made entirely out of Legos -- these were at least life sized (not toy sized).
and
everything M-I-C-K-E-Y shaped (this is another light fixture). We had
some mickey pretzels and mickey cookies that I should have taken
pictures of (but didn't). The pretzels were especially cool.
Other than Disneyland, it's pretty much been life as usual. Not much going on. I haven't done any sewing for a couple of weeks and that must end. I need to get going. I wanted to make some coasters so maybe I'll work on that this weekend. I could also finish up the potholders I made in June. Maybe some small projects will get me back on track. I also wanted to make some Farmer's Wife blocks .. and I was thinking today that I should try and piece together some of my scraps just to get rid of them... so much to do, so little motivation.
I really, really need to find some motivation somewhere. Maybe I lost it in my mess of a room.

Sundays
I'm getting ready to go grocery shopping, one of my least favorite chores. It's up there with cleaning and laundry .. and in that order. Hmm, maybe cleaning and grocery shopping are even. I've gotten to where laundry is not so bad. Only taken about 30 years for that.
I haven't done anything crafty this week. I'm still riding on the wave of finishing my jeans quilt. I tried pulling one of the slips of paper from my jar but ignored what I pulled. I'm going to make a list of goals for this week and then also decide what things I might want to make for Christmas. Somewhere in there I need to make two more quilts, but can't decide what I want to make.
Here are two "Night Before Christmas" books I bought on line recently. I think they cost a total of $5.

Wordless Wednesday
This picture is from the 30s. The tree in the back .. is my favorite tree. The tree in the front is the one on the ground in the picture below. (Okay, not so wordless today).

15 Minute Challenge - re-posted
I had a decent week this week with my drive to get the jeans quilt
done. There are pictures on my previous post. I should do a close up
of the seams so you can see the colors coming through on the front.
Tuesday - nothing
Wednesday - one "border" row on jeans quilt
Thursday - pinned blocks for sewing
Friday - nada
Saturday - finished sewing jeans quilt; started snipping
Sunday -snipping - finished!! Yay! made three coasters; washed and dried jeans quilt
Monday - mended jeans quilt (spots where I had snipped a bit much) and photographed it too.
I am really happy with the jeans quilt. I think it looks great. I know it's kind of boring, the blue and white, but it is so comfy and warm and it makes me smile.
on to the next one .. two more to go to reach my goal for this year.
Check out the 15 minute challenge at Life in Pieces to see how others havefared done this week.

Another Finish
Here are the pics of my jeans quilt!
I like the way the back turned out and it is so soft and warm .. not so great right now as the temps here reached triple digits yesterday and today .. it's fall, right???
I like the way the colors of the backing come through (if you enlarge the picture).

Anyway this is quilt #7 this year. Two more to go to reach my goal. I actually have two quilt tops completed so I could just finish those, but I'd rather start something new. Don't know what yet.
