My favorite this week is country music. When I was younger, I didn't like it at all and now I'd rather listen to country than just about anything else. Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan ... and so on. I don't like the twangy stuff, I like the more pop-ish country.
I find that much of the music out there offends me. The language, the lack of lyrics. I know that sometimes the lyrics in country music are a little sappy but I prefer sappy to the other stuff.

I like country too. Although all the time it's a mood thing. I do however like the twang I love a banjo and mandolin like crazy.
PS my favorite thing this week is getting an RSVP from Thea and Paul! If you need to stay at the house we can probably figure something out.
I grew up with country music and like some of the old stuff, as well as, some of the new stuff. Drama Teen is a major country music fan, much to the annoyance of her father. To say he's not a fan would be an understatement.
Country music is huge over there isn't it? Over here - not so much. But I've noticed that a lot of semi country (those pop orientated tunes you're talking about ) is creeping into the Top 40 over here and I don't mind it.
I agree with you about the lyrics of many songs though ....lots of swearing and anger!
I'm not much into Country myself though I do love Chris Isacc who is about as country as I get which is probably not country at all.
Country music has evolved since we were young too. I couldn't stand it when I was a teenager, but the country music of today reminds me of the pop music of my youth. Jim Croce, Neal Diamond. Did I date myself too much? lol
